19th District

The California Congressional 19th District includes most of the city of San Jose (South of McKee Road, East of Freeway 17 and goes south to Gilroy).   It's located in Silicon Valley -- home of the world's high technology industry with companies such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Cisco, Hewlett Packard, etc.    The city of San Jose was founded on November 29, 1777, as El Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe, the first civilian town in the Spanish colony of Nueva California by Lieutenant José Joaquín Moraga on orders of Antonio María de Bucareli y Ursúa, Spanish Viceroy of New Spain.    Today, it's also home many communities around the world with 27.0% White, 2.8% Black, 25.9% Asian, 41.4% Hispanic, 2.9% other.   It's home to the 2nd largest Vietnamese-American community in the U.S.
